Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead? created a challenge for me due to the fact that the scenic designer decided that the set would be in black and white so that I could paint the stage with my lighting. The director wanted the lighting to be abstract so I decided that I would light the stage slightly off of the natural colors. So the Boat scene was purple instead of blue, outside was light green instead of yellow, and inside the castle was light blue instead of white.
